We are pleased to announce the Sqn will re-open to Parades as usual on Wednesday 11th January!

Due to continuing building works around the school, access to the squadron can be gained through the new main gate at the end of Hawksbook Rd (opposite the Astro-Turf pitches. If you have any problem gaining access to the Sqn, please call the number under 'Contacts' tab.

Welcome

Welcome to the 578 (Langley Park) Squadron website. On this website you will be able to find out everything you need to know about what we do as air cadets and the opportunities open to you as a member. The Air Training Corps is an established youth organisation for teenagers aged between 13 and 18 and offers opportunities that would not otherwise be available to you - flying, gliding, shooting etc - you could even fly a Glider solo before you are old enough to drive!

We also have opportunities, both uniformed and Civilian, for Adults who want to volunteer their services to help run activities for the cadets and have many of the same opportunities open to them as the cadets do.

Again our cadets and staff are taking part in Maggie's Night Hike please use the widget to help us raise funds for this worthy cause

Gliding Initial Course

Saturday 28th January 2012

Cdts Muslu, Pitrik and Chapman went to RAF Kenley to try their hands at non-powered flight!

They took to the skies in the Grob Viking Mk1, which is launched to 1000ft via a cable.

Take off is extreme, the winch launches the aviators 0-60mph in less than 3seconds and has the same rate of climb as the RAF's Eurofighter Typhoon Jets!

Each of their flights lasted around 7mins, but they got 3 flights. They all enjoyed their day and are looking forward to going again.

Through this training program we are helping cadets develop such that they have skills useful in either the services or civilian life.
